Easy - Fast - Digital Audio CD Burner
Drew's No Pause/Gap
(And Pause/Gap) CD Writer Tutorial

The No Pause CD Writer Is An Added Option Of The Advanced Editor Version Only.
Burn CDs with NO PAUSE Or Gap between tracks effortlessly. It's super easy and they play on virtually all CD Players. Plus use the new CD Text to add actual disc and track names to the CDs you burn for CD Players that support CD Text. Most CD writers support no pause writing. CD Text is new and isn't supported by older burners.

OK, I'm excited. Big-Time. Really. For the past 2 years I've been trying to get a CD writer that could burn CD tracks without pauses between the songs. And it's simply been one brink wall after another, till now. This cost me many thousands to develop but I think it's been worth it, and I think you will be too, here's why: Burn mixed songs like from Beatles Albums with no breaks between tracks just like they were meant to be. But of course, when you program your CD player or hit skip forward or backwards, the tracks really are there.

Burn Live Albums where there's applause between songs and no breaks. Now it's just like a live concert.

Live Concerts. If you've made tapes of live concerts and now you want to burn them to CDs, you'll still have the tracks, but virtually no breaks at all where the tracks are.

Church Ministries and Sermons. Till now if you didn't break the hour-long services into tracks, you'd always have to listen to the CDs from the beginning. Now use DAK's automated time tracker to break the service into say 10 tracks, then burn with no pause and you'll jump from place to place as you desire, but have no breaks when you're listening.

Motivational Tapes. Hear no breaks in an hour session. But be able to effortlessly jump from place to place. Use the DAK Time Track Tracker to instantly put in up to 10 tracks that you'll never hear in your tape but that you'll use to jump forward or back to hear a section again instantly and effortlessly.

Meeting Tapes. Now when you produce or copy tapes of meetings have all the tracks you want so that you can jump from place to place but have uninterrupted train of through when you're listening.

Spiritual, healing, background music and more. Who wants breaks to break the mood. Hear no breaks but be able to jump anywhere you like, whenever you like.

Does it really burn pause free? Yes, it's really amazing. I've taken a 3 minute song and broken it into 10 tracks (10 seconds minimum for a track) and when I play the CD there's at most the barest blip on some of my CD players and on others if I close my eyes I don't hear anything at all. So your mileage may vary, but in normal use where there aren't 10 breaks in a song, I really hear nothing at all. Try it out.

Choose Pause or No Pause CD Burning
It's up to you. Choose to burn with a normal pause between tracks or no pause. Choose to add CD Text for the name of the CD and for the individual tracks or not. DAK's super powerful new programs does it all, fast and easy.

OK, Let's get started.

The Writer/Burner Main Screen
I've listed everything here for you in one place. Don't worry about all the numbers, it's super easy to use DAK's all new Pause and No Pause Burner.

Here's what to do.

Arrow 1.) Choose the CD Drive you want to use. Many computers have more than one, so we've given you a choice here.

Arrow 2.) After you put in a blank CDR and your computer recognizes it, always hit refresh before making changes in the speed and pause or no pause choices you'll use to burn your CDs.

Arrow 3.)
Always burn your CD at 1/2 the maximum of what your writer will do if you can. If your writer supports it, I'd burn at 24X as my writer shows a max of 48X.

Arrow 4.)
Choose Normal Track-At-Once or Session-At-Once for normal burning with normal gaps or pauses. There's really no difference between these two choices. For CDs with no pause between tracks choose the No Pause or No Pause With Text choice. Our No Pause burner will do the rest.

Arrow 5.) This is where you'll see the Track Title if you enter it.

Arrow 6.) This is where you'll see the Artist Info if you enter it.

Arrow 7.)
This is where you'll see the length of the track. It's automatically generated by the program when you load the track.

Arrow 8.)
This is the file name of what you've loaded. You'll see the complete path so you know where it came from and what it's full file name and type of file it is. Note: you can burn Wave, MP3 and WMA files and they will all be burned to CDA files for you.

Arrow 9.)
This is the total time of the tracks you've added. You can burn up to 1 hour and 12 minutes. That's the industry standard. You can burn an hour and 20 minutes (80 minute CDRs) but they may not play everywhere as not all CD Players support more than 72 minutes.

Arrow 10.)
CD Text. Click to open a dialog box to enter the name of the CD.

Arrow 11.)
Track Text. Click to open a dialog box to enter the artist and track name.

Arrow 12.) Click to open the Windows Browse box to load tracks.

Arrow 13.) Highlight a track and click Remove to remove that track.

Arrow 14.) Click to clear all tracks form the burner.

Arrow 15.) Click to actually burn your CD.

Arrow 16.) Click to close the burner when you're finished burning CDs. Don't use the X at the top right as the burner needs to do things to shut down that wouldn't be done if you simply X-ed out.

That's it. Burning CDs with no pause or normal paused tracks is all easy from now on.

NO TRACK NAMES ON CDs
Important Note: People think that the names of the tracks are actually on the CDs they buy. But, they are not. Only the track numbers are there. The names weren't part of the CD format when it was invented back in the 80s. In fact, 8 character DOS was about all you had.

But I see names when I load a CD in my computer? Yes, usually you do. But the program playing your CD goes out to the Internet and accesses a free database usually FREEdb that volunteers like you and me have added CD album info to. It usually gets about 80% of the CDs right. But it just matches an ID number.

When you convert albums and cassettes from analog there's no database to query, so we've added a naming function in the DAK Playlist manager you'll find in the Toolbox for you to name your tracks. But remember if you're just burning CDs your names won't be there. For the tracks you keep on your computer, I'd name them so you can know what they are. And for your MP3 files, we name and add tags to those too.

NOW, DAK's CD Text Writer Puts Track Names On CDs.  DAK's new No Pause burner has the new CD Text feature. It actually can write the tracks names outside the area that the CD normally uses for playing music. It works perfectly so when you put your CDs into a CD Text Aware Player, you'll see the CD name and track and artist names. Check to see if your CD Players will display the text. Either they do or they don't. There's nothing you need to do if they do and nothing you can do if they don't.

Loading Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD
Just click Add Files and you can add - 1.) A single track, 2.) A series of tracks or 3.) Randomly selected tracks. See below.
IMPORTANT LOADING TIP- Always load a blank disc first so that the burning program can calculate how much space you've used and how much more you can load.

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (Add A Track)
It's really easy to put tracks into the program to burn a CD. There are 3 ways to do it. In this screen I'll show you how to load a single track.

You already clicked the Add Files/Tracks Button.

Arrow 1.) Navigate to the folder with the track(s) you want and click on the Track/File you want to burn.

Arrow 2.) Click the Open Button. It's really a Load Button, but Windows calls it open.

Arrow 3 & 3a) I just wanted to show you a trick when you are navigating in Windows 7, Vista or XP. Click on the Desktop to help you navigate to the folder that you want to get your tracks from. From the desktop, you can easily get to any part of your computer where you may have your files stored. I like to make a folder on my desktop called my music then put folders in that for each artist or album that I copy. That works for me, but you can organize your music anyway you like.

NOTE: You can load MP3, WAV and WMA files for burning. They will automatically be converted to standard Wave/CDA files when you burn the CD. It's automatic. You don't have to do anything.

Note 2: You can mix MP3, WMA and Wav files when you load them into the Burner Program. It will automatically convert them all to Wave/CDA files for standard audio CDs with no problems at all. Again, you don't have to do anything. It's all automatic.

BUT REMEMBER if you are burning MP3s or WMAs to CDs they will grow by 10 Times to wave size because CDA which is the format of all audio CDs is the same size as a wave file. So you can only burn about 60 Megs of MP3 and that will become 600 Megs on the CD

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (ADD A Series Of Tracks)
What if you want to add more than 1 track. This is a standard Windows operation that lets you load as many tracks as you wish that are in a series. I mean that are next to each other like you see above.

You can add a few like I have shown above or every track in the folder by simply
HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY as you select tracks. So you can hold down the shift key and click one track then the next and the next and so on, or you can do it all with one click by clicking on only the 1st and last tracks you want to load. They will all turn blue and be loaded at once.

Arrow 1.) Click on each track or the 1st and last track of the series of tracks you want to load.

Arrow 2.) Click on the last track you want to load while holding down the shift key.

***URGENT TIP********URGENT TIP*****. There's an odd Windows thing that will mess up your track order when you load a group like this if you don't start at the bottom and end at the top of the group you are selecting. If you click the bottom 1st and the top last, it will load into the burner in exactly the order shown. But if you start from the top and click the bottom last, then the bottom track will be the 1st track in your loaded list and the rest of the tracks will be in normal order.

Arrow 3.) Click Open to load them all in the burner.

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (Select Random Files)
OK again, this is a Windows thing. But what if you want to load 4 or 5 tracks that aren't together in a series? Simple just HOLD DOWN THE CONTROL KEY and click on the tracks you want. This way you can select any tracks no matter what order they are in.

Arrow 1.) Hold down the Control Key on your keyboard and click on the tracks you want to load.

Arrow 2.) Click the Open Button to load them in the burner.

How Much Can You Write To A CD?

Here's another odd thing. You buy all these 80 minute CDs, but we only want you to burn 72 minutes. You see the specification for Audio CDs is called the Red Book Standard. You really don't care, but it's set at 72 minutes, not 80 minutes. So while you can burn 80 minutes on a disc, if you do, there will be some players, mostly older ones that won't play your CDs. So try to stick to 72 minutes max and you will be fine. Also, don't forget to burn your CDs at 1/2 or less of the maximum speed of your burner for best results.

Arrow 1.) This is the total loaded time for all your tracks. Keep it to less than 1:12 and you'll be at 72 minutes and your CDs should play just about anywhere.

Remove & Clear Tracks.
Want to remove a track or a few or clear the burner?

Arrow 1.) Highlight a track you want to remove.

Arrow 2.) Click Clear

Arrow 3.) Other tracks are unaffected.

Arrow 4.) To clear all tracks loaded in the burner, click Clear.

Which CD Writer To Use?
Many computers today come with 2 CD writers. No problem. Just select the one you want, put in a CDR and burn. If that drive doesn't work for any reason, just select the next one.

Setting Your Burn Speed & REFRESHING.
THIS IS IMPORTANT.

It's a rule of thumb. Home CD burners shouldn't run at full speed when burning audio CDs. Portable and car CD players just aren't as accurate as we'd like so the industry has found that if you burn at 1/2 or less of the maximum burn speed of the CD writer in your computer your burned CDs are likely to play just about anywhere.

We've put our burn speed pull down box right up front so you can set the burn speed. My Max on the computer is 48X, so I'll burn at 24X.

Arrow 1.) First Click Refresh to let the program sync with your drive.

Arrow 2.) Then choose 1/2 or less of whatever your max is.

The Actual Burn Steps In Pictures.
OK so how do you want to burn? With or Without a Pause and with or without text? Just pull down the Burn Mode Menu and you're all set.

Arrow 1.) Track At Once - Burn with Pause.

Arrow 2.) Session At Once - Burn with Pause, but burns the entire session at once, but there's no difference for you in using arrow 1 or 2.

Arrow 3.) No Pause - Choose to burn your CD's tracks with no pause between the tracks.

Arrow 4.) No Pause With Text - Choose to burn your CD's tracks with no pause between tracks and with Track Text.

CD TEXT - CD NAME
CD Text is new. It's great if your CD Players are CD Text Aware. Most writers are, but few players today are aware. But more and more every day, so test yours and if they see the text, you're all set.

Arrow 1.) Click CD Text To Name your CD itself.

Arrow 2a.) Enter the artist name.

Arrow 2b.) Enter the album name.

Arrow 3a.) After you enter the info, you'll see the CD title name here

Arrow 3b.) After you enter the info, you'll see the artist name here.

And Here's What You'll See As It Burns.
There's nothing for you to do while your CDs burn. Just relax. I've shown you the progress screen you'll see. But it's all automated, so have a cup of coffee, your CDs will be ready soon.

Arrow 1.) Click Burn to start the burning.

Delay Note: It often takes a few minutes after you click Burn before you see anything happening. Don't worry, the program is analyzing what you want to burn. It will start and burn right after it completes the analyzing

Closing Your No Pause CD Burner.
OK I don't normally tell you how to close a program. But with this burner it needs to do a few things to itself when you close it. So we've disabled the X at the upper right and ask that you use the Close Button to close the program so it shuts down properly.

Arrow 1.) Click Close, not the X at the upper right to close the program.

Arrow 1.) Don't click the X, well we've disabled it, so you can't anyway.

A Few Last Thoughts.

That's it. Happy burning. It's fast. It's simple. And now we can all be on the same page in case you ever have any questions. No Pause Burning is now a reality at DAK.
